En el sur, ver mujeres en el campo de batalla es una rareza; sin embargo, en el norte, el Pueblo Libre sabe que las mujeres son muy capaces de ponerse en primera línea de combate con tal de defender su patria. Si bien las mujeres del acero no están equipadas para luchar en vanguardia, situadas en los flancos o la retaguardia pueden proteger la línea de batalla frente a cualquier carga y lanzar sorprendentes ataques a distancia. Puede que el acero que les da nombre y que remata sus lanzas sea tosco, pero es abundante, barato y de lo más mortífero para cualquiera que sea tan estúpido como para subestimarlas, ya sea en combate cuerpo a cuerpo como a corta distancia.
