Aunque se les considera diminutos comparados con la mayoría de norteños, los lacustres rastreadores hacen gala de una letalidad que contradice su escasa estatura. Raramente detectados y casi nunca vistos, los rastreadores acechan a fuerzas más numerosas que ellos para llevar de vuelta información a sus comandantes y hostigar los flancos desprotegidos y vulnerables del enemigo. Dado que no pueden resistir un enfrentamiento directo contra infantería regular, los rastreadores nunca se quedan donde puedan verse implicados en una batalla campal. En términos de movilidad, pocas unidades enemigas están equipadas para darles alcance salvo la caballería contraria; sin embargo, los comandantes juiciosos están al tanto de esta limitación y se resignan a padecerla gustosamente a cambio dela tremenda letalidad que los rastreadores llevan al campo de batalla.
