Algunos están especializados en trabajar junto a sus hombres en el campo de batalla, como Roose Bolton y Ramsay Nieve (junto a su «mascota» Hediondo); mientras que Petyr Baelish y Lord Varys actúan ocultos como titiriteros, manipulando el desarrollo de la batalla entre bastidores. Puede que sus métodos sean cuestionables, pero sus resultados son innegables.
