Sin embargo, en el lejano norte más allá del Muro, los crueles gigantes son de lo más reales. Aliados del Pueblo Libre, los gigantes son máquinas de asedio andantes capaces de desmembrar extremidad a extremidad incluso a los hombres más pesadamente acorazados y que ignoran cualquier golpe, salvo los más contundentes. Un solo gigante presente en un ejército del Pueblo Libre puede enfrentarse a unidad tras unidad aplastando, mutilando y destrozando a todo hombre o cosa lo bastante insensato como para cruzarse en su camino.
